Text of Elevator Safety Code
The text being provided here is from the A17 / B44 Safety Code for Elevators. The Canadian and American codes have been harmonized, so the two are virtually identical.
Individual states, provinces and municipalities will vary in how they adopt the Safety Code. For example, some jurisdictions could still be operating under an old Code published in 1994, while others may have adopted the 2004 Code but made some local modifications to it. Anyone installing emergency elevator communication equipment will need to confirm the exact rules that they will need to follow in order to comply with their local elevator authority.
